About TextNow

Our mission to provide excellent phone service to everyone for free, or as close to free as possible. TextNow is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service that allows users to text and call any number in the United States and Canada when connected to WiFi, at no cost. We provide users with a real phone number which can be used on any smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer with an internet connection.  The application can be used on multiple devices under the same login at the same time. We also provide free cellular service with our Free Nationwide Talk & Text Plan on the Nationwide Sprint® Network* with a compatible iOS or Android device and offer affordable data plans and international calling options.

TextNow is available for download on the App Store for iOS devices and on the Google PlayStore for Android devices. The application is also available for download on our website for Windows and Mac computers. Computers can also access the TextNow service through our website in their web browser.

Where does TextNow get its phone numbers?

TextNow purchases phone numbers from wholesale providers.

When you or your teen signs up for a TextNow account, you will be prompted to enter your desired area code. From there, our app will prompt you to select an available phone number in that area code. If a phone number with your desired area code is not available, you will be provided with the closest available option or prompted to enter in a different area code.

It is important to note that some area codes are very popular and may not be available when you sign up for TextNow.

When a phone number is no longer in use, we recycle it to new customers after a holding period per industry standards.

*Although TextNow provides its subscribers access to the Nationwide Sprint® Network and to its wireless services, TextNow is responsible to its subscribers for the service. Please call TextNow with any questions or comments about services. Sprint is a registered trademark of Sprint.
