Video Messaging (Android)

We're pleased to announce video messaging is now available for Android users on Android 5.1 and above! When using TextNow you can now send a short video message to your contacts, right from the app itself. Here's how:

  1. Open your TextNow app and start a new conversation, or open an already existing conversation. 
  2. Tap on the picture of the camera in the bottom right-hand corner of the conversation window, as seen below.

  3. That will bring up a gallery of your pictures and video saved on your device. You can scroll and tap on one of the existing photos or video to send that photo or video, or use the larger panel on the left-hand side to take a picture from your device's camera or record a short video.

  4. If you're happy with the picture or video, tap Send to send it as a message to your contact. You can also hit the Back arrow at the top-left to go back and take another pic or video to send.

Please note that video messages can be no longer than 15 seconds and under 1MB (one megabyte) in size. 

Sending video messages is currently only supported on the Android versions of the TextNow app, but iOS and  web users will be able to receive video messages sent from other carriers or apps.

    Not even my phone will work the only reliable text now service I got is internet which is iffy at best help me for gods sake

    Hi Alicia,

    Sorry to hear about the troubles! It looks like your account should be fully enabled, so if you are having issues with logging in, it may be due to an IP address that is listed outside of North America.

    I'm afraid that we do not currently have a retrieval option for deleted or recycled conversations.

    Hi there,

    Since message and call history are attached to your account, when numbers are re-assigned you can rest assured that the next person with the number doesn't have access to any of that. :)

    Hi Jo'Nara,

    You can usually save a video one of two ways depending on the app version and your phone! Either by tapping the 3 dots in the conversation to get the conversation options, or press and holding the video until the "Save" option pops up. :)

    Hello, out of NOWHERE no one receives the texts i send out but they can receive calls, but i can receive texts still....whats going on

    Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your texts being received. I have reviewed your account and it looks like you're using our service through your web browser as opposed to the TextNow application, is that right?

    Please make sure that the browser you're using is updated, and we would recommend against using Firefox since it has been a bit unreliable with our service.
